Korean star Lee Min Ho appears here for 10 precious minutes while promoting beauty brand

By Yip Wai Yee

The most memorable gift that South Korean actor Lee Min Ho has ever received from a fan is a mobile phone, he says.

“It was not long ago when I received a phone which had a phone number stored inside, and it was the number belonging to the fan. I still don’t know what to do with it,” says the boyishly-handsome 26-year-old with a chuckle.

He was speaking to local media at a brief 10-minute press conference held at Pan Pacific hotel, where he was promoting Korean beauty brand Innisfree, for which he is a global brand ambassador.
The star first shot to fame riding on the mega-hit TV drama Boys Over Flowers in 2009, in which he played a rich student.

That type of role clearly works for him, given that his latest drama The Inheritors, in which he also played a rich student character, turned out to be a major hit. The finale of the show, which ended its run in South Korea last week, drew 25 per cent of the South Korean population.

On whether he identifies more with Boys Over Flowers’ role of Gu Jun Pyo or with The Inheritors’ Kim Tan, he says with a grin: “I think there are qualities to the both of them in myself. But probably, I’m more alike with Kim Tan - mostly because of his hair.”

The actor famously donned super, almost comically, curly hair to portray Gu Jun Pyo.

The Inheritors airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8.55pm on One (SingTel mioTV Ch 513, 604 / StarHub TV Ch 820, 823, 124).
