Lee Min Ho was really popular in Hong Kong…but perhaps a little too popular.

During his visit in Hong Kong for a photo shoot for the Chinese clothing brand Semir, which took place from February 27 to early March, sasaeng (stalker) fans and paparazzis apparently trailed him everywhere he went, and continued to upload the photos they took during his visit on various online entertainment sites.

Recently, Lee Min Ho and a rep from his agency agreed, “We knew that City Hunter and Boys over Flowers were explosively popular in the Chinese speaking areas, but it was surprising to experience it on the spot.”

Lee Min Ho’s sasaeng fans even got tickets for the seats surrounding Lee Min Ho’s on his plane ride to Hong Kong, and did the same for his return trip, digging out the number of his plane seat, traveling to Korea with him, and then returning to Hong Kong. Some fans and flight attendants attempted to take pictures of Lee Min Ho sleeping on the plane, surprising the officials. A few even tried to meet him in his room at his lodgings in Hong Kong.

A rep said, “He couldn’t rest on the plane in case someone would secretly take a picture of him sleeping.” Girls’ Generation previously went through the same when a paparazzi put photos of the members sleeping and resting on the plane on a local magazine.

Several voices are shouting out that people need to stop invading the privacy of hallyu stars, but hallyu stars are still forced to endure such evidence of global fame.

The Hong Kong airport was also packed with fans when Lee Min Ho was due to arrive. Hundreds, even thousands, of fans gathered on the spot, and some suffered from injuries when they were trampled on by other fans after falling down. More surprisingly, a fan who had injured herself that day could be spotted following Lee Min Ho to his hotel the next day on crutches. Lee Min Ho showed his concern for the fan on crutches, even approaching her to ask whether she was okay.

The rep said, “We believe Lee Min Ho asked after her health because he believed that she had gotten hurt because of him. He can’t pass by his fans because he’s sorry and thankful toward those fans who have waited for him to come from far, but he’s still getting more and more worried about their safety.”

Lee Min Ho wasn’t left alone on the streets of Hong Kong, either. Some paparazzis had to be pulled away by the bodyguards when they attempted to take photos practically in his face. They even stunned the bodyguards by boldly shouting out “Don’t touch me!” when they were grabbed.

In the end many photos of Lee Min Ho made it onto the web under great titles such as ‘Lee Min Ho’s good looks and great body’, but Lee Min Ho himself had to lock himself up in his room during his stay in Hong Kong other than when he had to leave for his schedules.

“When Lee Min Ho visited Thailand last year, he secretly donated money and did some volunteer work because he was worried about those fans who had fallen victim to the flood,” the rep said. “Now, however, because he’s so well known, he can’t even do good deeds without going through a hassle. He’s still planning many events in which he can do good deeds with his fans, but he’s being very careful.”

Lee Min Ho plans to decide on his next piece in Korea soon, and will be flying overseas for more promotions before he starts work on a new drama.
